TIPS ON HOW TO READ THE BIBLE FOR THOSE NEW TO READING IT.

Bibles are made up of books, chapters and verses. 
So, for example, using Isaiah 40:29-31, 'Isaiah' would be the book, '40' indicates the chapter and '29-31' indicates
the verses.  The number of the chapter and verse is usually separated by a colon.
